What if you just want to get it done fast? What if you don’t want to take forever? What if you want results this year?

It’s all doable!

Yes, sometimes it takes some time…and sometimes – it takes fast action!

You want to Supercharge Your Start? Here’s how:

  • Identify what needs to happen and be super clear
  • Look back over that list – is it really true? How many items are included that would be nice, or would make it perfect, but aren’t really needed? Eliminate wherever you can.
  • Jump in – yep, just do it. Taking one first step after another always gets you closer to the goal. Even when it doesn’t work, you didn’t the results you wanted, it could have been done better…as long as you are learning from it and moving forward you are getting closer!
  • Limit the time. Yes, you read that right. Limit the time you have to do it. Limit the time you have to deliver it. Limit the time you have to worry about it. Go for “done” whenever you can. Make it your mantra.

A little example from our own lives:

  • Need: New website that serves our clients, our marketing, our book launch, our corporate audience
  • Costs & Time: $40k and many months according to the many advisers that wanted to assist us
  • Reality: Fast track process that involved a few short days and weeks, very reasonable costs, the assistance of wise project managers and tech gurus

What’s possible for YOU if you decide to just approach the jumping off point and supercharge your start? Share in a comment below what you would like to make happen in a short timeframe?

  1. Supercharge! Love that. Supercharging my progress is what I’ve lately focused on and worked to define- actual steps entailed for my business, in recent months. It’s not a straight line, however!

Website creation is a fine example: I knew my new site, this time, would be a DIY (do it yourself) first version, due to money constraints… and I wanted to have a WordPress site. ( $40 k?! Who but corporations does that?)

Having done numerous websites before (that were great for their purpose) I thought WP would be an easy up-scaling for me- to self-teach- after the easy “visual editors” I’d used.

Not easy.. Not even doable in the time I’d given myself. I tried to force it! (“one week of total focus.”) NOT good. Forcing oneself in the Tech area isn’t kind. (Limiting time works incredibly well, in most cases, I agree.) Technology crash coursing sucked my energies, spun me off balance, and spilled over in other areas. Then, I “re-supercharged” by… stopping. Going to the redwoods and Eel River for 3 days. Reset. Recharge.

Then, I switched course. So, I used “Weebly” visual editor for my website- for now. It works. I’m breathing easy. It was free, fast and I don’t mind the results at all- for now.

Switching course is the message here: Progress is not a straight line forward, and even going fast, one needs to slow down at points. Noticing when you are pushing the river or reinventing wheels is crucial. (hint: this doesn’t feel good… for way too long) Changing course (resilience) allows you to find the next best move. Supercharged, again.

  2. This is difficult for the scholar in me, I tend to get lost in the details of each and every task and want it done perfectly! Thank you for the reminder that ‘done’ is more important than perfection. I’m off to set a time limit for my new website project!

  3. Ah, yes, what needs to get done now? The scheduling of 2 hour free workshops, “Four Secrets to Creating a More Calm and Peaceful Life” (which sounds too calm and peaceful… any input for a snazzy new title?) where I will offer people my day-long workshop, The Art of Forgiveness, on National Forgiveness Day, Oct 27th. So, I need to get 2 or 3 2-hour talks scheduled. Thanks for your blog which will now get my butt in gear, Brandy… :)
